How to close the amigurumi piece

A closed piece is a crochet piece that’s meant to be completely closed off. There should be no way to add extra stuffing. When you get to the end of your piece, usually after a series of decrease stitches, there may be a small hole left. Follow along to close the hole and finish off the piece.

Step 1

Finish the last stitch and cut the yarn so that the yarn tail is at least 6 inches long.

Step 2

Pull the remaining loop through until there’s no loop left.

Step 3

Thread a needle with the yarn tail. If you have a gap in the middle of the ball, insert the needle through the front loops of each stitch from the bottom up. Pull tight each time you bring the needle through a loop to help close the gap.

Step 4

When you have gone through each stitch then you need to hide the tail. Push the needle through the middle and out the side of the piece. Neatly cut off any excess tail so it is now a closed piece.
